Solar-driven Ca-Looping Process for Thermochemical Energy Storage
A clean energy storage system

Ricardo Dias
PhD Student, CQE, IMS, IST/ULisboa
Master of Chemical Engineering from IST in 2021, he joined the SoCaLTES project in April 2022 with a one-year scholarship to carry out a sustainability analysis of the Aspen/gProms models developed using GREENSCOPE, the workplan title was “Sustainability analysis of integrated solar-driven Ca-Looping process for Thermochemical Energy Storage with a cement industrial plant”. During this year he attended a summer school on data-driven optimisation at Imperial College and spent 2 weeks at CNRS-PROMES in Font-Romeu Odeillo, France, within the scope of project SURPF2202010061- SolMat4TCES of framework H2020 “SFERA III – Solar Facilities for the European Research Area” (Grant agreement 823802 entre a CIEMAT e a União Europeia). His research focuses on decision making based on sustainability key performance indicators (KPIs) and life cycle assessment. He recently enrolled in a PhD programme on industrial symbiosis under the supervision of Prof. Carla Pinheiro.
SoCaLTES Project is funded by FCT (PTDC/EAM-PEC/32342/2017) and by CQE (UIDB/00100/2020)
