SoCaLTES Seminar

The 1-day open seminar entitled “Solar-driven Ca-Looping Process for Thermochemical Energy Storage: A Clean Energy Storage System“, organized within the scope of the FCT’s SoCaLTES project (ref. PTDC/EAM-PEC/32342/2017) with the title “Solar-driven Ca-Looping Process for Thermochemical Energy Storage”, was held on September 29, 2023, at the IST/Alameda Congress Center.

The opening session of the Seminar was hosted by Prof. José Nuno C. Lopes (President of the Centro de Química Estrutural) and Prof. Carla I. Costa Pinheiro (Principal Investigator of the SoCaLTES project). The Seminar included a session of oral presentations to disseminate the main work carried out and results obtained under the SoCaLTES project by members of the project team; a session of invited oral presentations on topics directly related to the objectives of the SoCaLTES project by invited experts Prof. Carlos Ortiz (Universidad Loyola Andalucía, Seville, Spain), Dr. Gilles Flamant (PROMES-CNRS, Font-Romeu, Odeillo, France), Eng. João Cardoso (LNEG, Portugal); and a final round table discussion on the topic “Solar Energy in the Industry: Future perspectives/prospects” with the panel of invited speakers from companies: Dr. Marco Ferraz (GALP), Dr. Pedro Oliveira, (EDP), Prof. Manuel Collares-Pereira (Vanguard Properties), Eng. João Cardoso (LNEG), and moderator Prof. Henrique Matos (CERENA/IST).

The Seminar had 70 registered participants and the Organizing Committee was composed of the following members of the SoCaLTES project team: Prof. Carla I.C. Pinheiro (CQE, IMS/IST, Chair), Prof. Henrique Matos (CERENA/IST), Prof. L. Filipe Mendes (IN+/IST), Dr. Ana C. Ferreira (CQE, IMS/IST), Dr. Paula Teixeira (CQE, IMS/IST), Prof. Rui M. Filipe (CERENA/ISEL), Prof. Diogo Rodrigues (LSRE-LCM/AliCE, FEUP) and Eng. Ricardo Dias (CQE, IMS/IST).
